Gio in La Mesa

We first heard about this place when they called the wife for an interview, then called her back to cancel it (what's up with that?).

We finally made it over there today and it's a big place at the very end of the restaurant / antique row that is downtown La Mesa. Today (Thursday) is also their day for the hot rods so we got free entertainment as well.

We left here right at 3:00 PM so we were able to order from the lunch menu (dinner menu starts at 5:00 PM). We split an order of Fish & Chips, a side order of Tequila Lime Shrimp, I had an iced tea and the wife had iced water.

The fish (cod) was nicely done and affordable ($10) including fries and cole slaw. The appetizer shrimp were $9 and our bill was just over $23 ($27 total, including the tip). Our only complaint is that the shrimp were a little tough (overcooked?) and we will come back again.

We should probably also mention that the place is huge, with indoor and outdoor seating and a glass garage door that opens up to the fresh air on the sidewalk out front.
