Mandarin Chef
We were in Rancho San Diego, driving around looking for something, anything different for a very early dinner (we're old!) when we saw this place. It's in RSD's only shopping center and after checking out the menu out front, the Darla gave me the signal and I walked into the place. I had parked in a handicapped space, maybe 10 feet from the front door.
It's a fairly big place, especially for the location and the dining room appears to have been painted sometime in the 90's (pink and teal). There was only 1 other customer in the place, just before the dinner rush
After studying the menu (it's fairly large), the wife decided to have the Szchewan beef, a combination dinner served with egg roll, shrimp toast, fried chicken wings, fried rice and your choice of egg flower or hot and sour soup ($9.99). She opted for hot & sour soup and fried rice while I ordered fried dumplings. I wasn't feeling well (tooth ache) and didn't eat but I did have several cups of hot tea.
She liked the soup and the beef but says the egg roll, shrimp toast, fried chicken wing and fried rice were mediocre.
Our total was $18 and coin; an even $22 with tip and yes, she would come back (it's a lot closer than our regular Chinese place)...
